University of Horticulture & Forestry

the first one in Asia. Sprawled over an area of 550 hectares in Naunj villages,
it lies in Solan district. The university was started in the year 1985 by Dr.
Y.S. Paramour who was the first chief minister of the state. It has 14
departments, managed by a faculty of 200 scientists and teachers. The
university offers courses in various disciplines like under graduate,
postgraduate and doctoral courses in forestry, horticulture and others.
Kamru Fort
Visit Solan to see the Kamru Fort, which is a calm sentinel in Solan
hill station and is located at an elevation of 2,600m above the sea level.
It lies at a distance of around 229-km from Shimla. It also serves as a dense
group of houses, enveloped by fields and orchards.
Gurkha Castles
Lying in the districts of
Solan, Bilaspur, Sirmour and Shimla, the Gurkha Castles remind us of the time
when the region was under the Gurkha rule. While most of the structures
