Get off Turmoil with a Respite on Dharamshala Tour

Take a Dharamshala tour to get a break from the bustling life. The natural panorama, the soothing tranquillity and the spiritual chant at monasteries will make your Dharamshala holidays rewarding.

Visiting the land that cradled monasteries is always a delight for a peace-lover like me. Tired from the humdrum of city life, I embarked on a trip to Dharamshala. Jeeny, my sister accompanied me on this tour.
Dharamshala Tourism

Having heard a lot about stupas, thangkas and prayer wheels that define Dharamshala tourism, I was curious to understand the concept of monasteries in Dharamshala. It was not very near from Delhi, still we managed to leave by flight and landed at Gaggal airport in Kangra Valley. We had to hire a taxi to reach the town of Dharamshala as it lies 15 km away from the airport.

We stayed in a good hotel that was already booked by us. While experiencing the refreshing ambience of Dharamshala, we felt like a free soul that roams freely without restriction. This tranquil hill station in Himachal Pradesh adores you like a mother, whose lap you never wish to leave.

After having rest, we relished the delicious food with its own special flavour of hill stations that form an important part of India tourism. As the sights of Tibetan flags, ringing bells and prayer wheels that I behold on the way made me restless, we left for the Dharamshala sightseeing.

We headed towards the beautiful Norbulingka Institute of Tibetan Culture. Constructed in a traditional Tibetan style, it is settled in a gorgeous garden of rolling paths, flowing streams and rugged bridges. On the way, we moved towards the Triund which satiated Jeeny's adventure bug. The exciting trek enabled us to enjoy a panoramic vista of Kangra Valley that is the best part of North India tour. Meanwhile we enjoyed tea with snacks to regain our energy on that 9 km trek.

The sight from atop was beyond than what I expected. It was truly the magic view mountain as locals say. We got to know from locals about another two km trek to Bhagsu Falls but we did not entertain it and rather chose an easy way to proceed.
Dharamshala Monastery

The day ended and we took shelter of cozy beds at hotels. Next morning, we started our day with having the delicious maggi, momos and thupkas, the traditional drink. The exploration began with Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala that lies inside the Tsuglagkhang Complex. This sacred building also encloses the residence of Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader.

On being here, you can have the breathtaking views of lush pine forests and savour natural beauty. We also visited another important attraction in Dharamshala, Kangra Art Museum which is a good place to visit if you have interest in Tibet religion. The artifacts of Tibetan and Buddhist culture is a delight in itself.

I bought colourful Tibetan flags and mini prayer wheels as souvenirs and left back cherishing the tranquillity that I experienced on my Dharamshala tour.
